Lim Loo – Commercial Services Manager
What is your job title with STERIS IMS and how long have you been with the company?
I’m the Commercial Services Manager since March 2018. Before that I was the Operations Manager at what was then the Synergy Health Redbridge Sterile Services facility from May 2009. So, in total, I’ve been working at STERIS IMS for 12 years.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
Check and respond to emails and provide quotations to Customers. I like to clear my inbox before the next working day so I can start fresh. Some quotations are straightforward, and others are more complicated, so the completion time varies. My main priority is to keep the Customers happy and remain Customer focused.
Have you always worked in the medical device industry? If not, what is your history prior to joining STERIS?
Yes, since 1982. when I started at the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the challenge of meeting multiple deadlines as it keeps me on my toes. With lots of different projects including some with a value of over £4 million, it’s been a great opportunity to network with multiple suppliers and work very closely with end users, theatre managers and consultants. It’s always a pleasure to provide services to Customers and patients.
What do you do for fun when not on the job? Any hobbies or interests?
I’m a member of Badminton England. Playing local, UK, and international senior tournaments, and running my own badminton club in my spare time. If you can’t find me on the court, I’ll be in the garden or doing some DIY. I’m also obsessed with cameras and the latest technology.
Do you have any other interesting facts about yourself?
In 2015 and 2016, I received two awards for Achievement from STERIS IMS. I once had to drive a car for 5 miles without a clutch (as my daughter broke it). In 1996, the Trust asked me to do a project and I was so excited I spent £1200 on a PC and I didn’t know how to switch it on when I got home!
