Introducing Peter Fairhurst our Quality Manager at STERIS IMS.
Peter joined the business in March 2015 and is responsible for the quality inspection, manufacturing and repair processes at both our instrument sales and repair and endoscope repair UK sites.
Peter’s experience with the medical devices industry spans 20 years, initially beginning in Electronics and then progressing to a role as deputy quality manager for an Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMDD) production company he held this role for over 14 years. Whilst working in AIMDD he gained training in Quality Management Systems (13485 & 9001) and the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC, ultimately sparking his passion for quality and the underlying principles of his role and the regulatory importance of quality and effective systems within healthcare (the benefit of which can be passed on to the Customers and patients)
Peter has undergone extensive training from various notified bodies on relevant regulation standards including post marketing surveillance and vigilance and training on auditing of Quality Management Systems.
When Peter is not being a quality superstar, outside of work he enjoys Clay Pigeon Shooting, walking his dogs and picking up his amateur radio mic, having held a full licence since the age of 18.
“At STERIS we make quality our top priority. Everyone here is encouraged to consider – what if this instrument were used on me or a member of our family?”
